Rates
We want our customers to be as informed as possible when it comes to what they are paying for on their bills. Under the Alberta Rural Utilities Act and Alberta Rural Utilities Regulation establishes the organisation, governance , and makes provisions for the management of business and affairs of rural utilities associations. A rural utility association is an incorporated entity of five or more persons, of which its main purpose is to supply its members utility services for electricity, gas, water that is primarily used for domestic purposes, and sewage.

This also means that Rural Natural Gas Co-ops maintain jurisdiction in their service area, meaning you can't shop around for a better rate. This can be frustrating for customers as costs rise and they may feel trapped or taken advantage of.

Iron Creek Gas Co-op Ltd. is a registered not-for-profit organization. This means that we're not looking to make a profit off of your utility needs! We purchase our gas through Gas Alberta, an organization that works to purchase gas at the lowest rates possible. We don't mark up this rate further however we do add some operation and maintenance fees to your monthly bill. Because of they way our fees are structured we cannot offer locked in rates as a result. If we were to offer them, we'd have to make up for the loss of purchasing gas at a higher rate than it's being sold as, we cannot afford to sell natural gas for less than we've purchased it at.
